Halloween Celebrations In Seoul And Other Places

I didn't dress up. Couldn't be arsed to tell you the truth. Plus the fact that I was not going to spend an outrageous amount of money to dress up for one night. I am not a very creative person when it comes to dressing up. So, frig it!!!!

There were some good costumes around though. I didn't get to see too many as I hung out at Hollywood's all weekend and the other places were having fancy-dress parties and such. I was watching football most of the weekend.

I did get a good pic off Facebook though of Gareth down in Ulsan. He is dressed like a woman and makes a bloody good one, I must say. (He is the one in the scarf)hahaha.

He won't even know that I have put the pic on my blog, as he hardly ever checks my blog out. But, if he does.....surprise, Gareth!!!!!!

Watched the Liverpool game last night and it was a very good game, but Liverpool have no creativity up front. Crouch played well and needs to be used more often. A good match, but not a great performance by either side really.

An Oldie But A Goldie!

This video has made the rounds over the last few years, but it is still funny everytime you watch it. Enjoy!!!!!

October Rolls On

October only has about one week left and then we are into November. I can't believe how fast time has flew. It seems like yesterday I was in the Philippines and also Canada, England and Holland. Sometimes, time just seems to fly here in Korea.

It is the end of the semester at my school again; every 9 weeks, we finish and start another one. That means they have to re-enroll, which gets the school worrying about numbers once again. I don't care to tell you the truth.

The business side of it always bugs the shite out of me. I am a teacher, not a businessman. Don't get me wrong, of course I want to have lots of students, but sometimes the smaller schools put pressure on the teachers if their numbers are diminishing

The funny thing is that it is not necessarily the teacher's faults that the students don't re-enroll. There are lots of reasons why the children don't decide to come back; not enough money, graduating to middle-school ( that is a big one), don't have time because of other classes that they attend, such as piano, taekwondo etc.,

I just take it as it comes and carry on as always. One thing the Korean teacher asked me at my school, was if I would teach a high-level TOEFL or TOEIC class and we could enroll as many as 20 students in it. I said okay, I don't mind. I don't care what I teach, I just like teaching.

Big game coming on Sunday for Liverpool. After the shocking defeat to Besiktas, we could do with a win against the league leaders, Arsenal. It will be a test for them as well as us, but I think more of a test for them, as they have not played a good attacking team this season, yet.

Tonight, no real plan. Just go to Hollywood's and watch some football. Oh, I forgot. Guido is having a going away party. I will be going there. He leaves on Monday back to Italy.....too bad. Also, Craig, the coach of our football team is playing at RMT in Itaewon. He plays drums and I am looking forward to seeing him. Should be a fun night, overall. Not going to drink a lot as I play on Sunday and I am looking forward to playing then.

This Is Just Unbelievable.................

For Those Of You Who Didn't See The Game

My football team won, 7-0 on Sunday. I scored a goal, Rob scored one and Dave scored one. It was my second game in about 3 months, so I am a bit sore today, but feel great after the runabout and the physical contact.

I am happy to be back playing and the fellas are a nice bunch of lads. We are second in the league now. At the end of the season top two teams get promoted to the first division and bottom two from the first go down. We may get promoted if we carry on playing the way we have done.

Watch the video, if you didn't get to see the game. Especially us here in Korea. We didn't watch it in English.

Back Playing Football

Last weekend, I played my first game since about 3 months ago. I am playing for a team called, 'Geckos.'

Dave started playing a couple of weeks ago and Rob also has played twice for them. So, last weekend we had a game in Bundang, which is where I used to live and Dave still lives. Most of the games will be played there and on the dirt pitches, which are a combination of sand and stone-seriously!

Today however, we are going down to Suwon, which is a little bit further north than Bundang and we are playing on an artificial pitch, which will be very nice. We beat the other team last week, 5-1 and we are playing them again today.

Can't get too cocky, as the score didn't reflect how close the game was until about the last 20 minutes. The other team has some runners and I hope to run a bit more than I did last week. I only played about 40 minutes in total as I was cramping up a bit in the second half and pulled myself off so that I wouldn't be dead the next day.

I think we might be short of players today, but then again maybe not. The team has a nice bunch of fellas on it and everyone doesn't seem so serious, which I like. It is still competitive, though.

The team is run by a Scots fella called Craig. He is about the same age as me and is married to a Korean girl. He plays in a rock band also and is a really cool lad. We all went for a drink after the match last week and I got to know a few of the lads.

One of the lads, Tony, is from London, Ontario, also! Small world. He is about to get married to a Korean girl. He is only young and his family is originally from El Salvador.

Watched the Liverpool game last night and was not impressed with how they played again, but a win is a win and we have bragging rights now until the next derby game.

Also watched the first half of the World Rugby Final, which England lost to South Africa. They put up a good fight, but were not strong enough to hold back the South Africans. Not a try scored in the whole game, although England got one called back. All the points were scored on kicks.

Off to me Rob now and then get the bus from Kangnam to Suwon. Hope we win again. Watch this space for the results.

Can't upload any pics at the moment. Blogger is working on the upload tool, then I can add a couple of pics.

George On Little Britain

Check This Video Out.....It Is 25 Years Ago!

Great Video With A Good Song To Go With It

The dynamic duo are always at it. Let's hope this is what we will see on the weekend against Everton. We owe them for that 3-0 defeat from last year!!!!!!

An Absolutely Amazing Goal!

Check out this- out of this world goal! Unbelievable distance that it was hit from. Watch it again and again. It is amazing!

Fighting A Bad Cold And Enjoying The Autumn Weather

This time of the year in Korea is very nice. The days are warm and the nights are cool. It is much milder than Canada at this time of year. I really do like this time of the year although I do love heat.

It is nice weather for sleeping and also it is nice to be wearing some of the nice sweaters that I bought in Canada this Winter. I have lots of shirts, too that I have not been able to wear. However, they all need to be taken in by a good 5 or 6 inches now due to my weight loss in all areas especially my chest. I have gone from being about a 48 inch chest to a 43......great!!!!

I have lost fat pretty much everywhere except in the lips!!!!!! I am maintaining my body weight and my fairly healthy diet. It has been about 6 months now, so it is becoming a big part of my daily routine to just eat well and exercise.

I have not been able to exercise yesterday or today due to the football game I played on Sunday. I was so stiff!!!!! I played my first game in about 4 months. It was great and I really enjoyed the run-around. I played about 45 mins in total and was smart enough to come off after about 20 mins of the second half when my muscles started to cramp up. The team won 5-1. I am playing for Geckos with Rob and Dave also on the same team.

The lads are from all over the place. The coach is Scottish and about the same age as me. He married a Korean girl and there is even a young fella from London, Ontario who is about to get married to a Korean girl. There are fellas from Ireland, England, Canada, Australia and America on the team. It is the second division league of Seoul and I must say, it was a good game. Nothing too serious, but at the same time, very competitive. I like the bunch of fellas. They all seem down to earth .The only problem is that we play on the dirt stuff. It is very hard to turn and sometimes you feel so stupid as it is hard to figure the bounce of the ball on that kind of a surface.

We get to play on a nice artificial pitch this Sunday in Suwon, which is just south of Seoul. I played on the pitch the first week that it was opened and it is a great field. It is almost like playing on carpet. It is very similar to the indoor pitches that they use in North America and all over the world.

Not much else going on. Just working hard and enjoying life to the fullest. Looking forward to the Liverpool vs Everton game this weekend and the final of the World Cup of Rugby between England and South Africa. Should be a good double-header.
Various pics of the Philippines; from a whisper to a scream!

For Those Who Have Dabbled In Some Of The Stuff......Hilarious!

My mate Gareth, posted this video on his facebook. It is absolutely hilarious. Starts out so serious and then..................hahaha.

All The Scousers Know "Purple Ackey!"

My mate Chris, told me about the legend of 'Purple Ackey.' I had lived out of Liverpool so long that I had no idea.

The story is that he used to go up to young men or whoever and touch their muscles. If you want to know the full story look up 'Purple Ackey' on Wikipedia. It gives the full story and busts the myths that were going around for around 20 years or so.

He still is a mad bastard like, but not the urban legend that everyone thought. Chris said that he heard he had been killed 3 times and came back to life......haha.

Shame On Her! He Was A Daft Get!

Now I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, but will someone please tell me what "SHE" did to further Paul McCartney's career?

Ok, granted, she has his child and she is entitled to have SOME money to care for the child, but holy mother in jesus, how much is enough.

As far as I am concerned, she is answering all the critics that called her a money grabber before she married the daft get! Shame on her is what I say!

Weird Dreams!

Last night, I had the weirdest dream. It was one dream that kept continuing every time I woke up and fell asleep again.

I was married again to the same woman and I was thinking to myself in the dream, "What have I done. I have made a mistake. I don't want to be married. I want to travel the world. I don't want to do a boring job again. I was having such a good time."

I was also worried about breaking Tyler's heart again and telling him that I was divorcing his mother for the second time. Also, the house that we had together before, was massive now and I was cringing about how much upkeep it was going to be!

Everytime I woke up, I would sigh and say thank god it was a dream. But then, back it came again. I must have woke up at least 4 times and went back to the same dream.

I used to have the same dream about finishing university, too. In the dream, I would miss the last exam or would not hand in the last assignment, so I couldn't graduate and travel the world as an ESL Teacher. I had that dream at least a dozen times. Weird stuff, eh?

I think I have an idea what it represents. I think in a roundabout way, I am happy that I am not in those situations anymore and have moved on. But what I don't understandis, why am I still thinking about that stuff, when it is done and dusted?

Anyone got any ideas? Any Freuds out there? I would appreciate anyone that wants to leave a comment; other than I am absolutely nuts......haha.

Not much else going on right now except I have a doozie of a cold. I have been fighting it big time today. I had the shakes this morning, but fought through them and hacked and coughed and by the time I got to school, I felt a little better.

Got through the day and then went to the gym. Shook all through my weight workout and then walked fast for 5mins and then ran full out for 10. When I finished I had the chills, but went into the sauna and sweated up a storm. I feel better already, but will wrap up when I go out, as it has finally cooled off now to comfortable sleeping weather with the windows wide-open.

I have joined up with a new football commentary site. It is just ordinary people writing articles about any sports. You just have to click on the EPL link and it will take you to all the articles that people are writing.

I will be writing something sometime this week, so keep your eyes peeled. Here is the link to the site:

Haven't Been Much In The Mood For Blogging!

I have been a little lax in the writing department lately due to laziness really. Since returning from the Phillipines, I have been on the go and trying to get into the groove of things again.

I am feeling more in the groove now. I worked Thursday and Friday at my school. That put me back into normal mode, as such.

Went to a part at Dave's house last night and it was a good time. Lots of people showed up including Sara from Manchester whom I haven't seen in months.

We all went up on the roof of Dave's building, which has a spectacular view. We just enjoyed the good weather and chatted about life and other things.

I am off to Hollywood's now to watch the Man U game and am meeting Chris there. The Liverpool game should be on after that, so I hope they play well and attack, attack, attack.

I was wrong about the LFC game. It is on today, Sunday. Going to watch it in a little while. Meeting Dave there and Chris should show up later.....I think.

Dave's party was good. Finished about 3am.... Rob and I got a taxi back to Bundang and I ended up getting home at 9am! I ran into Jason coming out of the U.N. Club and he wanted to hang-out, so I obliged.

I was shattered last night although I watched England beat Australia in the World Cup of Rugby. I am not much of a rugby fan, but will watch the World Cup, especially the quarter-finals. The favourites; New Zealand are out too. So, England play the hosts France in the semis.

Positive Move?

Let's hope that this meeting leads to something positive instead of the ever on-going stalemate that has been the aftermath of Kim Dae Jun's Sunshine Policy talks almost 7 years ago. I for one, hope that something good comes out of these talks.

It is always better to know the devil that you are dealing with by talking to him than no communication at all.......my opinion anyway.

This is big news here in Korea, anyway:

Some Photos Of The Philippines

Some of these photos are self-explanatory, others are just random shots of places in Angeles City and the shanty-houses in Manila.

There is a lot of poverty in The Philippines, that is for sure. Angeles is much more touristy and much more less third-world than the rest of the country.

The people are nice and although some parts are dangerous, overall the people are not there to rip you off. They are there to treat you with dignity and I must say, they did just that the whole time I was there.

They are a funny bunch when they talk to you and have a good sense of humour as well as some funny sayings. One of the ones that I liked was; see how you are?

It was a great trip and I plan to go back in the near future. It is a very inexpensive holiday and your money goes a long long way there. Food, hotel, entertainment, shopping and the like give your buck a bang for its worth.
